Bachata Classic

Classic bachata spans the 1990s crossover era through the early 2000s. This is when bachata stopped being rural Dominican music and became international Latin pop. Aventura — Romeo Santos, Henry Santos, and Lenny & Max Santos — was the central act, producing landmark albums (God's Project, K.O.B. Live) that defined a generation. Juan Luis Guerra had pushed bachata into romantic pop territory in the early '90s. Luis Segura, Raulin Rodriguez, and Toby Love held down different corners of the style. Classic bachata remains the emotional core of the genre. "Obsesión" and "Perdí el Control" still get danced every night around the world.
