Bachata arrived in Israel around 2000 through the latin clubs, and grew into its own scene over the last decade as most salsa clubs began teaching it too. Today it runs on its own weekly circuit, in its own venues, with its own festivals. This page is the whole picture in one place.

The scene runs on a weekly circuit rather than on one-off events. Thursday carries the most lineups in the country, and Saturday night draws the fullest floors.
By city
Tel Aviv is the centre of gravity, but you do not have to be there. Each guide lists the clubs in that city, the nights they run and what the local scene is actually like.
Learning the dance
Almost every lineup in the country runs a class before the social, which is how most people start: turn up an hour early, learn the basics, and stay on the floor with the same people. The academy covers 356 terms if you want to understand what the teacher is naming.

Where can I dance bachata in Israel?+
Across the country. Tel Aviv holds the largest number of weekly socials, alongside communities in Jerusalem, Haifa and the north, Gush Dan, the Sharon, the south and Eilat. The board on this page is organised by city and by night, so you can see what is on tonight or pick a regular night.
Do I need Hebrew to join the scene?+
No. Most teachers switch to English as soon as there is a non-Hebrew speaker in the room, and classes are largely demonstrated rather than explained. Tel Aviv in particular has a steady international crowd, and Jerusalem and Haifa both have large English-speaking populations.
How much does a bachata social cost?+
A regular social runs 30 to 60 shekels. With a class beforehand, expect 50 to 80 for both. Festivals and visiting-teacher events cost more. Many clubs sell a monthly membership that is worth it if you go weekly.
I am completely new. Where should I start?+
A night that runs a class before the social, ideally outside Tel Aviv. On a floor of fifty a beginner gets far more dances than on a floor of two hundred, and the people from your class are on that floor afterwards. After four to eight classes any social in the country will suit you.
Do I need a partner?+
No. Bachata socials rotate partners all night, and classes rotate too. Arriving alone is completely normal and most of the room did exactly that.
What style is danced in Israel?+
Sensual dominates. It developed in Spain and is built on continuous body movement, waves and isolations. Dominican, the original style with fast footwork, is danced here too but is less common. Sensual is also the most accessible starting point.
